Camino Rio Stormwater Management: Integrated Sediment Trap, Infiltration Basin, & Step-Pool Structure

Oxbow Ecological Engineering, LLC (OEE) had the opportunity to collaborate with Watershed Artisans, Inc., River Source, The RainCatcher, Inc, and Southwest Urban Hydrology on the permitting, assessment, design and construction of a stormwater improvement system to stabilize a large, trash filled gully in an urban area along the Santa Fe River. The stormwater system, which was the brainchild of Craig Sponholtz of Watershed Artisans, Inc., included an integrated sediment trap, infiltration basin, and step-pool designed to stabilize the gully, maximize passive stormwater infiltration, and improve water quality. Oxbow Ecological Engineering, LLC completed field work and analysis in support of the design and developed 100% construction documents (drawings, special provisions, and quantity take-offs) for the project. OEE’s work included a detailed supplemental survey, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, boulder step-pool design, and permit coordination. Watershed Artisans, Inc. was the design and construction lead and completed site grading and the amazing boulder work for the project.
