Mittry Lake Southern Expansion: Wetland Restoration Concept Design

The Mittry Lake Southern Expansion Project provides the Bureau of Land Management with the opportunity to restore native riparian habitats in a fashion that would complement existing restoration work in the adjacent Laguna Division Conservation Area. The preliminary design concept restores over 400 acres of habitat while also providing numerous recreation opportunities to visitors. The design includes a mosaic of marshes, riparian woodlands, and upland habitats as well as related irrigation and water delivery structures, and grading plans. In addition to the restoration, the design allows for the creation of a dove hunting area, a restored bankline for boating/fishing access, and an area for parking and staging lake maintenance projects. Together, this concept design provides a comprehensive master plan for the site
